THINGS TO DO IN MÜ THIS WEEK: 28 OCTOBER - 3 NOVEMBER

A little late (once again), here is how we would spend each night of the week if we had the time. For more inspiration, here's what Rachel has come up with for the next week in her beautiful blog.

Monday, 28 October:  
SPORTS: Lederhosentraining in the English Garden. You need to wear traditional Bavarian Tracht if you go. Free, just turn up at the surfing point. Starts at 7PM every Monday.
 
Tuesday, 29 October:  
INDIA AND ROMANIA IN PICTURES:  Last week of the Double Feature Photography Exhibition  featuring works by Romanian photographer Mircea Nicolae and Indian photographer Anum Mathew Thomas in Lothringer13. For those of you who have never been there, also a chance to get to know the great exhibition space in Haidhausen and get inspiration for your own projects.

CREATIVE NITE: It's the 11th Creative Nite, where speakers present their projects. Prepare to meet journalists, knitters, musicians and others. Lamentohalle, Dachauer Straße 112d. 20PM, free entry.

Wednesday, 30 October:
FLEA MARKET: The city library for kids and young people will be giving away books, CDs, board games, teaching material, etc. for a little donation. Gasteig, Rosenheimer Str. 5. Free, just turn up, 10AM - 7PM. 
 
Thursday, 31 October: 
SING-ALONGS WITH GERTI: The legendary Gerti, the soul of the iconic Fraunhofer Shoppenstube that has recently fallen victim to gentrification, invites you to join her in the Theater im Fraunhofer for another hearty evening full of music, cheerfulness and sing-alongs. 20PM, free entry.

Friday, 01 November:  
I FEEL LUCKY MOVIE NIGHT: The Cinema theatre in the Nymphenburgerstr. has been one of the prime addresses for the English speaking community in Munich for a very long time. It's Sneak Previews have become a great tradition. If you are lucky, you get to see some amazing movies a long time before its German release date. If you are less lucky, well, the nachos are still great and at least you can tell your date that you didn't choose the rubbish you just saw. 23.15PM, tickets are 7EUR if you buy in advance
 
Saturday, 02 November: 
GAMES: Spielwiesn is a huge fair, where you can try out the newest board and parlour games. It's taking place from 1-3 Nov. On Saturday there will be a night of games: from 5PM until 11PM the tickets are just 5EUR. More on opening hours and tickets here.

Sunday, 03 November: 
POETRY SLAMPoetry Slam in Substanz, Ruppertstr. 28. Five local and five international slam-poets compete to present the most elaborate poetry. In the end the audience chooses the winner. Moderation: Ko Bylanzky, DJ: Misanthrop. 8PM, tickets 6EUR.

Monday, 21 October:  
FOOD MARKET & CRAFTS FAIR: Auer Dult is on until end of week. Attractions for kids, crafts to purchase and bites to grab. Monday to Sunday 10am - 7pm.

Tuesday, 22 October:  
PUPPET THEATRE: Phantom Story by Nicola Unger from Rotterdam. Paper silhouettes and animations. The performance is in English. Münchner Stadtmuseum. Tickets 12 € for adults, 9 € concessions. Start at 6pm. 

Wednesday, 23 October:
SILENT MOVIE & LIVE MUSIC: The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog. Alfred Hitchcock's early thriller. Accompanied by improvisations of Brazilian composer Anselmo Mancini. Rationaltheater. Tickets 12/8€. Starts at 8.30pm. Prebook: ticket@rationaltheater.de.
 
Thursday, 24 October: 
NERDY TALKS: Nerd Nite, a series of talks in various bars after work. This time the speakers are going to talk about jazz trombone, computers & girls, and how the chaos theory is related to calenders. Neuraum, Arnulfstr. 17. Tickets 5 €, start at 8pm.    

NERDY CRAFTS: Make Cafe Munich, gathering of 3D-printing enthusiasts. "Bring your printer, show off your projects, or just do a talk on whatever you made recently or are still in the process of making." WERK1 at Kultfabrik, start 6.30pm. Free, just turn up.   

Friday, 25 October:  
RUSSIAN MUSIC & LITERATURE: Viktor-Schneider-Festival in GOROD. Tonight: Opening concerts with all special guests at 8PM and silent cinema with Russian chancon accompaniment (piano and vocals) at 10PM.
 
Saturday, 26 October: 
RUSSIAN MUSIC & LITERATURE: Viktor-Schneider-Festival in GOROD. The whole day packed with concerts and readings by Russian song writers, poets and musicians. 

FLEE MARKET: Flee market for children, from 9am until 1pm. Tickets for adults 2€, free for kids. Reithalle, Heßstr. 132. And a Midnight Bazar starting from 5pm, same place. With music and drinks. Tickets 3€.

Sunday, 27 October: 

RUSSIAN MUSIC & LITERATURE: Viktor-Schneider-Festival in GOROD. Today: Kseniya Dargunskaya presents her short documentary "Кукушка в крокодиловой бухте" ("The peak-a-boo in the crocodile bay"), Alya Haytlina reads her poetry, Petr Koshelev and Olga Chikina sing their songs.

DRINK AND THINK: Pub Quiz at Molly Malone's. Every Monday night from 9PM.

Tuesday, 15 October: 
FILM FESTIVAL: Underdox Festival, Filmfestival für Dokument und Experiment. 10-16 October. Short film program I: Underdox Documents, 8.30pm, Werkstattkino. Short film program II: Underdox Experiments, 10.30pm, Werkstattkino. Tickets 6€.

PHOTOGRAPHY: FOTODOKS, a festival of contemporary documentary photography. Opening at 7 pm. The festival is on every day from 3pm at Münchner Stadtmuseum. Last day is the 19 October.

Wednesday, 16 October: 
GERMAN THEATRE PERFORMANCE: "ALTERNATIVLOS oder das Titanik Syndrom" at 8.30PM in i-camp. Last time when we saw a play our friend Stefanie Hiltl was involved in as dramaturg, the audience had to follow the actors on a trip from the stage through the streets of Munich and into an Afghan restaraunt, never knowing what was going to happen next. This new performance promises to be not less exciting! Understanding German will probably be a big plus for this one.

CURRY: Join a bunch of Toytowners exploring the world of curry in Munich since 2004(!). Register here for the curry treat at Garam Masala.

Thursday, 17 October:

Friday, 18 October:  
CREATIVE NETWORKING: Creative Mornings: A global before-work-get-together of creatives, with exciting talks and breakfast. This month's topic is "Play" with the speaker Alexander Zacherl. 8:30am - 10:00am. frog. It's free, but pre-book online! Tickets always go away in an instance.

Saturday, 19 October:  
KINETIC ART: Exhibition “Freitag der 13” by Charly-Ann Cobdak. Poetic and ironic art machines. Galerie Gerhard Grabsdorf, Aventinstr. 10. 2-8pm. 

MUSEUMS: Lange Nacht der Museen: Munich museums are opening their doors until late. 7pm - 2 am. Tickets 15€ incl. public transport. Huge program with guided tours, concerts, talks etc. Here's some info in English (pdf)

THEATRE: "БУДЬ ЗДОРОВ, ШКОЛЯР!" Спектакль по Булату Окуджаве - for Russian-speaking friends. Staged by the VGIK theatre students from Moscow. Hosted by G.I.K. GOROD, Hansastraße 181. Starts at 8pm.

Wednesday, 9 October: 
ARTS & SCIENCE: Exploring New Worlds, Realizing the Imagined. A panel discussion at the Deutsches Museum, Zentrum für Neue Technologien, 7.30 pm

Thursday, 10 October: 
ARTS: Kunst im Bunker. The opening of the Kunst in Sendling Open Studios. Thalkirchener Str. 158. 6pm. Kunst in Sendling will be on throughout the weekend. Fri: 7pm - 10pm, Sat: 2pm - 10pm, Sun: 2pm - 8pm.

Friday, 11 October:

Sunday, 13 October: 
MUSIC & ARTS:  Travelling Utopia - a jazz concert. A closing event of a fine art exhibition  "Blind radicant travelling 'pataphysical spaces". PROVISORUIM bar, Lindwurmstraße 37. From 8pm.

Did you know, that you can freely access the library and the archive of the Deutsches Museum? Even on Saturdays and Sundays. And you don't even need to register. And there is a wifi connection through eduroam. Brilliant!
